John is passionate about the role of food and technology in solving global problems. He is head of software engineering at Grönska, one of Europe’s largest vertical farms. He has also completed masters-level coursework in horticulture at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. John worked for 15 years at Apple, Skype, and Microsoft, where he held technical leadership positions building world-class software products including Mac OS X and Skype for iPhone. Most recently, he has been a founder, manager, engineer, advisor, and mentor in the startup world. He holds 7 patents, a B.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, and a M.A. with Distinction in Science and Technology Studies from Linköping University specializing in Innovation Systems, Social and Ecological Change. John is a US and EU dual-citizen.
